Danica Patrick not expecting Daytona results at Phoenix International Raceway
There were great expectations at the Daytona 500 last week when Danica Patrick became the first female to win a NASCAR Sprint Cup pole position and finished eighth, her best Cup result.
So how does Patrick think she’ll do in Sunday’s Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway? She was on-track for a near top-10 finish at PIR last November until a multi-car last-lap accident.
“It’s important for people to understand Daytona is a very different kind of race and track,” Patrick said Friday during an interview with azcentral sports in her No. 10 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet hauler. “That’s more of a high-speed chess match. This is going to test more of my comfort level with the car and my ability to get as much out of it as possible and be comfortable right off the bat when the track’s going to be fastest with new tires.
“If we were in the top 15, I think that would be a good day.”
