Hornaday Receives $25,000 Fine

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Four-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday Jr. was fined $25,000 by NASCAR for intentionally wrecking rookie driver Darrell Wallace Jr. during the April 14 event at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway.

Hornaday and Wallace had been involved in a scuffle on the track when the yellow flag came out and Hornaday bumped Wallace as the trucks were slowing down, sending the Kyle Busch Motorsports No. 54 into the outside wall.

After the race, Hornaday maintained that he was not trying to wreck Wallace, but still NASCAR found him in violation of Section 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing. Altercation with another competitor on the race track during a caution period) of the 2013 rule book.

Hornaday has also been docked 25 championship driver points and placed on NASCAR probation until June 12.
