MODIFIED MADNESS RETURNS TO CENTRAL ARIZONA RACEWAY

MODIFIED MADNESS RETURNS TO CENTRAL ARIZONA RACEWAY

By: Geoff Briggs;

Rebounding after breaking a shock bolt last race at Central Arizona Raceway, Jason Noll powered his Atlas Logistics MRT Chassis to the IMCA Modified win Saturday night at Central Arizona Raceway.  Bo Partain was the winner of the Pure Stock feature while Rob Colclasure took the Super Stock win.  AJ Heubner remained undefeated in X-Mod competition and Steve Soboski made history with the first Renegade feature win at the Speedway.
The IMCA Modified count was at 24, but two scratches left the field at 22 for the feature event.  Nate Warren and Chad Falco led the field to the green flag.  Jason Noll started in the seventh position and worked his way to the front while Ricky Thornton Jr charged up after starting back in the 17th position.  Cody Graham followed Noll and moved into second with Eric Center sliding into the third slot.  Noll claimed the win with Graham a close second.  Center, Shawn Zelinka and Dana Fite rounded out the top 5.
The Super Stock feature has Tommy Thompson and Allen Kelley on the front row.  Kelley grabbed the lead, but Rob Colclasure moved from third and took the lead from Kelley.  Colclasure was able to hold on to the win with Kelley a charging second.  Tommy Hussak III finished third after starting seventh.  Joe Sarginger was fourth ahead of Dave Kelley who started back in tenth.
Ryan Eaden and Jeremy Goetschius were on the front row for the Pure Stock feature.  Eaden claimed the early lead while Bo Partain and Danny Curry were on their way to the front from the third row.  After problems in the head race for Ty Weidener and Terry Churchwell, they were forced to start at the rear of the field and make their way to the front.  Partain took the lead from Eaden and went on to claim the win.  Eaden was second over Curry, Churchwell and Weidener.
Chris Caldwell and Jinger Kesler were the front row for the X Mod feature.  AJ Heubner started third and led early.  Trevor Miller charged up to the second slot, but wasn’t able to chase down Heubner as he cruised to another win at the Speedway.  Miller was second over Caldwell, Nolan Morrow and Jason George.
Steve Soboski and Don Berner led the first ever Central Arizona Raceway Renegade field to the green flag.  Soboski jumped into the lead with his full-sized Station Wagon while Berner fought hard to get the lead.  Berner broke while battling for the lead which cleared the path for “Scuba Steve.”  Soboski took the win with Richard Bennett second.  Harry Fowler, Steve Bertrum and Darren Schiller rounded out the top 5.
The next scheduled event at Central Arizona Raceway is on May 18 when the ASCS Southwest Winged Sprint Cars invade the speedway.  The ASCS 2 Mini Sprints, X-Mods and Dwarf Cars join the fun.
