report surfaced on Friday claiming that Kurt Busch will leave Stewart-Haas Racing next season to join Chip Ganassi Racing, replacing Jamie McMurray in the No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro.

According to the report by motorsport.com, no official announcement appears to be imminent. Busch would take his sponsor, Monster Energy, with him to Ganassi.

A small group of reporters spoke to both drivers after Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series qualifying on Friday at Michigan International Speedway.

Busch said nothing had been signed.

“I’m talking to a bunch of teams out there,” Busch said. “There’s nothing that’s been signed. Whatever has been reported is hearsay.”

McMurray would not confirm the report, either.

“I don’t talk about contracts,” McMurray said. “I just don’t discuss any of that kind of stuff.”

Chip Ganassi Racing declined to comment and Stewart-Haas Racing provided the following statement:

“Stewart-Haas Racing does not comment on the status of its contracts, be it driver- or partner-related. We appreciate your understanding.”

Kurt Busch signed a one-year deal to remain at SHR last season. McMurray is in the last year of his agreement with Ganass

“Nothing has been signed and whatever has been reported is hearsay.”
